This feels like a ya almost Hunger Games meets Harry Potter book. The characters were interesting but there was so much angst and looking back I have to wonder at why so many schools seem to weed by death rather than trying to turn out a reasonable number of well-balanced people who will do the job without backstabbing their way up the ladder. Surely backstabbers can't be an ideal cohort of covert people...

Still I enjoyed it and am looking forward to the sequel ( )
